Fernando Torres is back. No, really.
The 32-year-old scored again for Atletico Madrid against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night to keep his team firmly in contention for La Liga title.
Incredibly, this is the first time in Torres’ illustrious career that he has managed to score in five consecutive matches in all competitions.
Torres met a lofted pass from Antoine Griezmann and dispatched a brilliant header past Athletic goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz to give Atleti a 1-0 lead.
It would prove to be the only goal of the game – another huge three points for Diego Simeone’s men who remain level on points with Barcelona.
