Iskra Arabella Lawrence, or more known as Iskra Lawrence is an English model and also managing director at Runway Riot. She looks beautiful, doesn’t she? But do you know that she once felt bad about her looks?

Yes, she did! She was not confident with her looks, especially after all hurtful comments she got from her own family.

According to Seventeen, Iskra said, “Back in my teenage years I used to suffer with bad skin and I would get acne and breakouts and someone would tell me ‘You can’t leave the house like that without any make-up on, you’ve got spots it looks terrible, like go put some make-up on’ so I’d run upstairs and cake my face.”

“It got to the point where I was so insecure about my skin because of these, you know, ritual ‘ugh your skin looks so bad. Why – why is it like that? Why can’t you do something about that?”

Iskra even admits that her self-esteem was so low and she even wore water-proof full coverage foundation when she went for swimming lesson. She was really insecure about her look.

It even got worse when her own family gave comment on her body, “I remember family members telling me you can’t wear those type of boots that cut off on your calf because your legs look too big and it makes your legs look fat.”

Now, she has passed all those bad things, and she is trying to encourage other women dealing with body-shamming by their own family.

She said, “You should stand up for yourself. You should, if someone makes a comment like that, tell them ‘I appreciate your opinion, but that really hurt me and if you wouldn’t mind not saying that again because that’s not something you need to say.”
