“You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.”

The quote from Abraham Lincoln above is probably the best one to describe what is happening here. Brandi Weaver-Gates, a former Beauty Queen is sent to jail after faking to have leukemia.

“She wasn’t working. She was living off the money,” said Centre Country District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller as cited from PEOPLE. Miller then said that Weaver-Gates only wanted the attention and her motive was ‘plain greed and selfishness. “She had a psychological evaluation and nothing was wrong.”

“the attention, charity work and money that went to her was stolen from real warriors battling cancer, some who have in fact since passed.” Miller continued. “the defendant literally stole from dying people.”

What she did of course broke the hearts of friends and family of those who are truly battling cancer. “They compared their loved ones’ real struggle to her fake one, and shared a hope that Centre County would not be jaded by her scheme for those who are really in need,”

Weaver-Gates’ friends who were helping her as they did not know that she was only faking it feel embarrassed and regret.

The 24-year-old woman is now sentenced to two to four years after getting nearly $30,000 by faking her cancer and making a lot of people donate their money to her account.
