Right, so here it is: David Moyes has compared the Everton team he was in charge of to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side.
As bizarre as it sounds, the Scot quite clearly believes that his style is very similar to that of Klopp’s.
Under Moyes’ guidance, Everton enjoyed a steady 11-year spell and played some relatively nice, high tempo football at times.
The 52-year-old’s success at Goodison Park helped him secure the Manchester United job, of course, but we all know what happened after that.
Klopp, on the other hand, is quickly imposing himself on Merseyside as his team go from strength-to-strength with every passing game.
And the German coach enjoyed another wonderful evening as his side ran riot against Everton on home soil.
Goals from Divock Origi, Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho eased the Reds to a 4-0 victory to continue the feel-good factor at Anfield.
It’s safe to say, then, that Liverpool’s players are well and truly coming to prominence under Klopp.
But, let’s be honest, Liverpool’s emphatic performance wasn’t the story of the night…that’s because Moyes, speaking on Sky Sports, came out with the best comment of the night.
ROBERTO MARTINEZ STRUGGLES
Well, while Everton’s former manager has been well and truly destroyed for his comments, things haven’t exactly gone too well for the club’s current boss.
Indeed, Roberto Martinez is under increasing pressure at Goodison Park and tonight’s humiliating defeat has made things evening tougher for him in the pursuit of redemption. Everton were well behind their rivals from star to finish and they really appear to be struggling right now.
There’s no doubt it, the Toffees must secure a victory over Manchester United in this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final clash.
